What is With the Me Generation?

I feel as if I’ve had somewhat of an awakening recently. I’m 31, and was brought up a modest Christian with good values.

Over the past few years, I’ve been dabbling in these popular venues like Facebook and online dating. They’ve provided fun experiences at times, but always something has been lacking. Something has just felt wrong about all of it.

I noticed on Facebook that often old friends would contact me requesting friendship. After I’d accept their request, I’d write them a short note, surprised that they contacted me and would ask how they’ve been doing since we last met. Almost each time, I never got a response… Sure, they’re probably busy, but why would they go out of their way to search for me as a friend? Could it possibly be because they just want one more friend on their page, one more number so they could silently boast or feel good about their amount of friends? Perhaps.
This new "Me Generation" seems to be rubbing off on everyone I knew and liked as a kid. I don’t understand it. What happened to things like being modest, friendly, going out of your way to help someone? Remember when people that acted like that were respected? Nowadays, I don’t even know anyone that acts like that, not a soul.

Another bothersome site is Yelp. While having a site that allows personal ratings for restaurants to be in the view of the public seems like a good idea, it appears that 90% of the Yelp community, or Yelpers as they call themselves, also have massive self egos. I’ve seen reviews for really decent restaurants at 1/5 stars on there. Of course they’re all generally from 18 to early 20 somethings who nit pick to every last detail and don’t realize that they’re actually hurting legitimate businesses. "My fork had a soap stain on it, 1 star!" "The service was soooo slow during peak hours, lulz. 1 star!" Some of these restaurants they give low ratings to are actually very nice places where the owners have poured their lives and hearts into.

One would think that these things are just for kids. Social media is just a fad. Right? Well if you turn on the news, it seems that big news networks are actually reporting on these ridiculous posts from social networking sites, as if they’re actually important, well researched views! CNN seems to be a big offender of this, though there are others as well.

My question is, what do you think of social networking and this new self obsessed Me Generation? Do you think this attitude and lifestyle is a fad and will pass, or is it here to stay?

hey man! been a fan of you channel for a while. I decided to make a bran new channel. Anyways I recently left the cult they call atheism. I was asked at your chat what made me leave. Well I looked at the arguments some of these coocoos were spewing. Like atheist experience for example… I then realized how immature and foolish atheism was.

Nothing about atheism makes any sense at all. They can’t argue for it so they mock other religions(mainly Christianity), by making up stupid religions of their own like pastafarian for example. About half of the people I knew were atheist had santa syndrome, the others that claimed to be atheist were big fans of Allester Crowley and his Book of Law. Which is a whole other load of BS that is full of satan.

Anyways I found God again and I have never been happier! Keep up the good work sir and you got some backup coming! I got about 500 questions I want to ask some of these people. Amazing atheist makes wild claims such as “the Bible promotes violence toward women” which proves he has never even read the bible. Whats sad is his subscribers eat up every word of it.

I’ve been for a long time an agnostic, and as agnostic my basic opinion about religion was respect. Lately i’ve been feeling that i do believe in God, when i read some parts of the bible last night i remembered you. I really don’t know why i’m believing in God more than before (when i was a child i did not believe at all)
It’s a strange feeling, I’m quite “free” with my “faith” i haven’t been in the church for long, but so far I’m wishing to go. Even the idea of God is strange for me, and I’m not sure of anything I’m starting to develop a “friendlier” relation to Christians.

Long time ago, i told you that i appreciated what you do, but now i somehow idolize you (not in the “heretic” way )

I’m not sure why i am doing this, but nobody around me understands why i am now believing in god.

I wanted to thank you for what you do, as over time, your videos and the information you’ve provided have broken my former, cold Atheist ways and have allowed me to the see the power in Christianity, while the “switch” to Christianity has been difficult (even more so since I’m 17, with very few to talk to about such a thing, my parents are usually far too busy to take the time out, as much as they’d like too.) and the information I’ve accumulated has been overwhelming, I’m dedicated to at the minimum, taking a few moments out each day to read the Bible, and to immerse my self in God’s word, and to attempt to better myself each day from what I learn through what I read, as I feel every little bit counts towards achieving a larger goal I have in mind. Furthermore, In November I’ll be getting my Motorcycle entitlement on my drivers license, as well as a Ninja 250, so I can finally live my dream of riding a motorcycle, something I wouldn’t have dared anyone to do as an Atheist.
